A customised Berkley 270 from Longridge Homes is an impressive space using bold modern lines
Amy and Mathew Anderson custombuilt a Berkley 270 from Longridge Homes for its versatility and ability to evolve with their growing family.
"We chose the Berkley because we wanted to ensure versatility and multi-functionality of all our rooms, to be used in different ways as the girls grew up," Amy says. The couple has three daughters' Georgia, 6, Olivia, 3, and Genevieve, 1.
"Longridge were very easy to work with," Mathew says. "We customised our fittings and our materials, right down to the floor plan."
First impressions last so the Andersons amalgamated three different frontages to create a bold and architectural design. "We tried to give our home the modern style that we love, but added a little warmth by choosing warm earthy colours, timber floors and mood lighting," he says.
The second floor features the main bedroom with ensuite, bedrooms two and three, the main bathroom and a central living area, which is used as a nursery for Genevieve. "Eventually, Genevieve will move in with one of her sisters and the folding doors we've had installed will swing against the wall, opening up the entire living space again," Mathew says.
Downstairs is the hub of family activity and for now, the study has been turned into the girls' rumpus room and the home theatre is being used as the study. "This is why we loved the design because we were able to mix and match the rooms when we need to," Amy says. Accessed via sliding glass doors,
"we love having the option of having all the doors wide open or having them closed to create intimate spaces to be used for different things at different times".
Family living, dining and the kitchen are all located in one spacious room with glass sliding door access to the alfresco area. Hardwood floors were used inside and out for a seamless flow of space. This being the couple's fifth home and third build, they chose a courtyard block to achieve a more usable and functional space.
"We used to have a big garden. This time round we didn't want to spend all our spare time out in the garden doing maintenance," Amy says.
