It’s Glassy

It's clear, a wall of glass sets Longridge's Urban 260 apart

two storey-high wall of glass is a spectacular feature of Longridge's Urban 260 design.

Not only is it a show-stopper from the street, but the glass and staircase at the front of the home makes for an impressive entrance and lets light stream down the length of the home.

This three-bedroom, two bathroom (plus powder room) townhouse design has a 9m wide by 20m depth footprint, making it a suitable choice for inner urban areas or thin blocks as well as development areas, says Helen Lowrie of the Longridge Group.

"This home suits an allotment that is quite narrow. While it can be built as a single home, it can also and has actually been built as a townhouse duplex development, with the owners keeping one of the homes and selling the other," she says.

A double garage at the front ensures the home has privacy from the street, and the internal access is always welcomed by buyers. "Great for rainy days and the need for extra security," Helen says.

The rest of the downstairs is zoned for the living space with a galley-style kitchen, dining area and lounge within the relaxed, modern open plan.

The 2.7m ceilings downstairs give a heightened sense of space, upstairs the ceiling height is 2.55m. The kitchen has a generous mass of cupboards and a walkin pantry at one end.

Next to it is a decent laundry and across from this, there's a powder room for central convenience. Most of the rear wall is taken up by double-opening sliding doors, creating another excellent source of light and defining the ideal spot to position your outdoor living.

"Some clients incorporate a deck for the home to open up on to. Others prefer paving. Either way it adds to an outside entertaining area that is an extension of the home," Helen says.

Windows are limited on one side of the home, so the design can be used as a duplex, while long, narrow windows on the other side complement the front and rear glass walls.

Upstairs, a second lounge separates bedrooms two and three at the back, and could be used as a casual TV room, a study or private formal lounge.

Off this, the main bathroom is a great size and layout, with a recessed shower, bathtub, central vanity and toilet. Behind it is the ensuite to the master bedroom, which has a wide shower on one side and toilet on the other.

A double-sided walk-in robe is another luxury treat off the generous master bedroom that looks out to the front.
