This family has a big house and backyard with the modified Radison 350 from Longridge Homes
Peter and Christina Isaksson believe building a two-storey house has given them the "the best of both worlds". With three children, aged nine, 12, and 13, the couple appreciate all the space they can get.
"It's the best of both worlds, with three children at this age, to have a big home and a big yard - which has a pool and still enough room to play cricket or footy," Christina says. "Building a two storey home has allowed us to keep that space in the yard."
The Isakssons built a slightly modified Radison 350 design by builder Longridge Homes. "We made the laundry slightly bigger, have lots of cupboards and storage under the stairs' it's great because there is a place for everything," she says. "We also have an alfresco area like the display home; it was easy to make the changes and Longridge were very flexible."
The home is almost two dwellings under the one roof. Upstairs has a living area, bathroom, a bedroom each for the children, dedicated study area and balcony. The main bedroom, formal dining and lounge rooms, a kitchen/meals/living room and bathroom is downstairs.
"It is a huge bonus for the kids to have their own area," Christina says. "And we have our own area and don't have to be squashed up with the kids, although there is enough space when we want to spend time together."
Entertaining is a delight, Christina says, with friends' children able to spend time upstairs or in the backyard. "This leaves the parents to enjoy themselves but everyone can be together downstairs when we want," she says.
The hub of the house is well-lit, with two sliding doors off the kitchen/meals/living area. Carpet is used as a demarcation between the living area and tiled kitchen/meals area. The sliding doors open onto the alfresco area and create a seamless flow between indoors and out.
