Break with tradition

Work from home in this contemporary design

A formal lounge forms the core of the Madison 230 design from Longridge Homes. Located directly in front of the entry, this living zone can be immediately accessed without disrupting any other activities in the home. The two minor bedrooms share one wing of the home with the main bathroom and designated "media" area.

The other side of the central lounge is the casual living and dining area. Large corner windows allow the outside in while a glass sliding door opens on to a decking area creating a large alfresco space. A modern kitchen includes an island bench with a double sink, overhead cupboards, pantry, ample bench space and stainless steel appliances. Cupboards and a dishwasher are integrated into the island bench maximising available space. A dropped ceiling also provides separation from the casual living area.

A carpet square is inlaid on the tiled area, while a grey feature wall adds interest and style to this part of the home. The main bedroom includes a built-in wardrobe and large ensuite with frameless shower and double-vanities. An adjacent study helps create a "parents' zone" well separated from the daily hustle and bustle of family life. An adequately sized laundry is between the kitchen and the ensuite and has a storage cupboard and outdoor access.

Longridge Homes marketing manager Helen Lowrie described the Madison 230 as a "classic, contemporary styled home". "Well placed windows ensure there is a great transfer of natural light in the home," she said, while high ceilings maintain the openness of the design. All the windows are timber framed and custom designed. "We have also included louvre windows to improve ventilation and cross flow of air in key locations through the house. "Due to the clever use of space the home feels larger than it is. In the second bedroom zone the media nook allows for family use of computers in a central area.
