Two-storey design will suit larger families

The Radison 350 from Longridge Homes is an upstyled, upgraded and upsized version of its forerunner. The main difference is the Radison 350 is built on two levels. .

On the top floor, three minor bedrooms share the space with a corner bathroom with storage cupboard, shower and bath. At the opposite end is a large casual living area and a computer desk for students. Downstairs, a wooden slat deck provides an ideal alfresco area and entry into the house.

To the right of the entry is the casual lounge which looks on to the front decking through a wall of windows. Adjacent is the carpeted staircase which is beside the formal dining room. Longridge Homes marketing manager Helen Lowrie said the design, built late last year, was popular.

"The design gives total flexibility with accommodation," Mrs Lowrie said. "Upstairs can be given completely over to children so the have their independent living space. "The second bedroom was designed to be double sized so it can be utilised as a guest room, being adjacent to the upstairs bathroom. "Also, when the children leave home, parents can live on just the ground level of the home."

Opposite the staircase is the toilet and laundry which is accessible from the large rear patio area. A modern kitchen has an island bench with twin sinks, stainless steel appliances, overhead cupboards and a glass splashback. The pantry is integrated into the wall. "With the positioning of the kitchen it allows you to throw open the glass sliding doors to the outside and create one enormous entertaining area," Mrs Lowrie said. "We have found many of the buyers are making their own design changes to the home because the home is flexible enough to do that with a minimum of fuss." A casual meals area and formal living room complete the living sections of the downstairs area.

The main bedroom, with built-in wardrobes and ensuite with twin vanities, is set into one corner of the house. It also includes a double shower which juts out from the side of the home. "This allowed us to integrate glass blocks into the bathroom area so natural light can enter," Mrs Lowrie said. "It also provides an interesting feature to the side of the home instead of just a boring wall."

She said the house was constructed with Hebel concrete panels which provide outstanding thermal qualities and allow the house to be rendered from top to bottom.
