The Knuckey family had their eyes firmly on the future when they chose Longridge Homes Radison 350
With three young children, Sally and Stuart Knuckey knew their new home needed to be large enough for their family to grow into.
With Baxter 8, Ava 4, and Fraser, 2, Mum and Dad decided they didn't’want to be adding on or rebuilding as the children grew up. They found the Radison 350 design first, made a few modifications, then, equipped with the plans for their dream house, looked for a block that would suit.
‘‘We were initially attracted to this plan by the idea of the main bedroom being downstairs,’’ Stuart says. ‘‘It’s kid’s world upstairs and we've got our own space on the ground floor which will be great as the kids get older and want to do their own thing. We also loved the natural light that floods the home, and the alfresco area at the side gave us room for a pool, and for some lawn out the back.’’
The ground floor has a double garage with direct internal access and a formal lounge at the front, next to the staircase. A formal dining room sits between the front lounge and the main bedroom which includes two large built-in wardrobes and a luxurious ensuite with double shower and twin vanities.
There is a well-equipped laundry with a linen cupboard, toilet and vanity as well as extra storage under the staircase. An L-shaped family hub with galley kitchen, meals and living space wraps around the large alfresco area. Upstairs, four generous bedrooms, all with built-in wardrobes) a study and three way bathroom surround a central living area.
The family is already enjoying the flexibility of their new home’s floor plan. ‘‘Right now we’re using the downstairs formal dining room as the kids’ playroom but, later on, that could become a guest bedroom,’’ Stuart says.
Modifications to the design included enclosing the formal dining room with a wall with double-cavity sliding doors. They also brought the alfresco area under the main roof to enhance their outdoor entertaining area, finishing this area with a stunning lap pool and glass surround.
Upstairs, they introduced another bedroom and study and centralised the living area.
